DOW CHEMICAL Melanie Kalmar is Corporate Vice President, Chief Information Officer and Chief Digital Officer for The Dow Chemical Company. She drives the strategy for Information Technology and all digital capabilities globally to advance the Company’s business strategy and lead its digital transformation. She is also a member of the Executive Leadership Team, Dow’s most senior executive committee that sets the strategic direction, defines priorities and is accountable for delivering enterprise-level results. In her role, Kalmar has responsibility for the Information Systems organization, Cyber Security and Risk Management, Reporting and Advanced Analytics, Facilities Management, and the Services Business which provides services beyond Dow in support of Dow’s merger & acquisition strategy. She is accountable for ensuring the overarching vision and digital agenda aligned to corporate and business priorities, allocating resources and managing overall risk for IT investments. Kalmar joined Dow in January 1987 in Research Information Systems in Midland, Michigan. She has held several IT related positions at multiple Dow locations and been involved in spearheading and driving key transformational efforts. She continues to be at the epicenter of Dow’s merger & acquisition IT projects and activities, and has led the largest and most complex SAP implementation in the world. Kalmar was accountable for launching the information systems required to operate Sadara, the joint venture developed by Dow and Saudi Aramco. Melanie holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Management Information Systems from Central Michigan University, Mt. Pleasant, Michigan. She completed the Executive Education Program at Babson College and the Thunderbird International Leadership Program in Phoenix, Arizona. Kalmar is a Director for Dorinco Reinsurance Company and is a member of Dow’s Joint Inclusion Council whose charter is to drive the Diversity & Inclusion strategy and priorities within the Company. She is also a member of the Michigan Council for Women in Technology and the Dean’s Council for Central Michigan University’s School of Business.
