CORPORATE SPONSORSHIP

LLEM International Inc

Location:

Opportunity Description:

WHY BECOME A CORPORATE SPONSOR?

LLEM is a small non-profit with a huge mission. We can’t do this work alone. We depend on individual and corporate donors to help children and adults who cannot help themselves. Corporate partners are invited to partner with LLEM to support our “Sponsor a Child” program. Right now, the Sponsor a Child program is the focus of our work. With a small, monthly, and tax-deductible donation, your company can provide underprivileged Nigerian youth with things we often take for granted. They need clothes, access to medical care and the opportunity to get a good education. We invite your corporation to be a change agent in their lives. Your monthly support will make a HUGE difference.

WHY BECOME A CORPORATE SPONSOR?

Poverty impacts the lives of children throughout the world, with more than 30% of children in developing countries—about 600 million—living on less than $1 a day. According to UNICEF, every 3.6 seconds one person dies of starvation, and it is often a child under the age of 5. More than 1 billion children are severely deprived of at least one of the essential goods and services they require to survive, grow, and develop, such as food, healthcare, and education. Some 300 million children go to bed hungry every day, and more than 90% of those children suffer from long-term malnourishment.

“Some 13% of children ages 7 to 18 years in developing countries have never attended school,” says another UNICEF report. “This rate is 32% among girls in sub-Saharan Africa (27% of boys) and 33% of rural children in the Middle East and North Africa. Yet an education is perhaps a child’s strongest barrier against poverty, especially for girls. Educated girls are likely to marry later and have healthier children. They are more productive at home and better paid in the workplace, better able to protect themselves against HIV/AIDS and more able to participate in decision-making at all levels.” Education for girls also works to increase a country’s overall wealth, as they are able to help develop agriculture and other industries.

Illnesses such as malaria, typhoid and cholera are predominate in Africa and in rural places, destroying the lives of families due to a lack of available medical care. Many lives have been lost to these minor illnesses and diseases. They cause 16% of all deaths each year, and those who survive are still at risk for impaired physical and mental development.

  • Almost 4 million people die annually from respiratory infections.
  • Nearly 14 million people are infected with active tuberculosis.
  • Nearly 250 million people are afflicted with malaria each year, with the highest death toll of around 2 million occurring in children under the age of 5.
  • Over 30 million people are living with HIV globally, and nearly 3 million new cases occur each year.

PLANNED SCHOOL AND ORPHANAGE

Our Sponsor a Child program is just the beginning of our important work. The needs in Nigeria are huge, and while our Sponsor a Child program will go a long way towards helping children, a larger scale effort is needed.

LLEM’s staff takes frequent trips to Nigeria to analyze community needs. The number of orphans and kids in need in Nigeria is startling, and they must be helped.

In order to widen our impact in Nigeria, we’ve developed a two-phase program.

1) Phase One “Sponsor A Child” program (in progress). 2) Phase Two “Planned School and Orphanage”.

Phase Two: Planned School and Orphanage

Initial actions:
  • LLEM has conducted a needs assessment in and around the community of Aba. By talking to business leaders and leaders of the spiritual community, we have identified a need for a planned school and orphanage.
  • LLEM has begun exploring how to engage the best partners in Nigeria to support this building.
  • We’ve outlined the type of building and facility needed, and we are ready to share this with our community.
Our vision includes:
  • The planned school and orphanage home will offer residential care for children. It will focus on serving as a spiritual center and home for children who have lost parents due to death, parental neglect or abuse.
  • The residential center will serve up to 400 children.
  • Meals, clothing, transportation and access to mental health counseling services will be provided.
  • The housing unit of the school will include a large industrial kitchen, a worship center, a medical clinic, and sports facilities including a soccer field, a tennis course and a basketball court.

Over the next 12 months, we’ll further refine our vision and begin serious fundraising efforts. We hope we can count on your support to change lives.

In the meantime, please review our corporate sponsorship chart below so you can see all of the benefits that come with being a corporate sponsor.
